The Institute for Translational Medicine is a unique research and application foundation in tissue regeneration and repair, stem cells, and noncoding nucleic acids. We focus on disease diagnoses and new drug development, promote the development of regenerative medicine and translational medicine, and actively search for breakthroughs in our research.
These are ancient concerns about which human beings think and explore. Currently, many diseases cannot be cured. Moreover, there is a bottleneck between basic research and clinical application. There is a gap between the experimental platform and the hospital bed. To break such barriers and fill such gaps, translational medicine has emerged at a historic moment. Integrating the wisdom of multiple disciplines, translational medicine provides a bridge that rapidly shortens the distance between basic research and clinical application. This new branch of medicine both originated in the development of science and technology and contributes to the development of science and technology. With the main purpose of serving clinical needs, translational medicine advocates patient-centered care, identifies and focuses on problems in clinical practice, concentrates on scientific research and technologies to solve key scientific issues of major diseases that threaten human health, and creatively develops and refines cutting-edge research.
The Institute for Translational Medicine at Qingdao University is composed of experts in cell biology, molecular biology, genetic and developmental biology, basic medicine, clinical medicine, and bioinformatics. We focus on the key factors of signaling pathways and mechanisms of major diseases, and we elucidate relationships between biological processes and diseases, from cell regeneration to cell death and from organ development to individual aging. We also explore pathogenic factors and effective therapies.
The Institute comprises twelve research centers such as the Developmental Cardiology Center, Regenerative Medicine Center, Tumor Molecular Biology Center, Vascular Biology Center, Translational Medicine Research Institute, Precision Medicine Center, Molecular Genetics Center. Both the Model Animal Center and the Biological Information and Biotechnology Center have technology supporting platforms. The Institute currently has more than 100 advanced instruments and equipment, and it has built domestically advanced biomedical research technology platforms, including a stem cell and cell biology research platform, a bioimaging center, a high-throughput sequencing and nucleic acid drug development platform, and an SPF animal room and animal experiment platform. The Institute has published high-level papers in top journals, such as Molecular Cell, Nature Communication, Circuit Research, European Heart Journal, Circulation, and Science Advances. The Institute provides an excellent environment for the training and growth of talented scientists. Two researchers in the Institute have received the National Science Funds for Excellent Young Scholars, and one has been selected by the Ministry of Science and Technology as the Young and Middle-aged Innovation Leader. With advanced research directions, first-level research ability in China, a complete scientific system, sufficient research funding, and a vibrant team, the Institute of Translational Medicine is looking forward to the participation of outstanding young talented scientists to collaborate in realizing our scientific research vision.
