The Center for Molecular Genetics

The Center for Molecular Genetics aims to study the structure and function of genes at the molecular level. The center’s research focus is to decipher the genetic and epigenetic characteristics of cancer, aging, and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) using the integrated approach of molecular biology, cell biology, genomics, functional genomics, biochemistry, high-throughput sequencing, and bioinformatics. Our center is equipped with an Illumina NextSeq 2nd Generation Sequencer and PacBio 3rd Generation Sequencer to provide fast and accurate whole-genome sequencing and post-sequencing data analysis services. Our focus is exploring the genetics and epigenetic determinants of cancer, CVDs, and aging, thereby providing the theoretical basis for development in the field of precision medicine.

Our current research interests are as follows:

1. Deciphering the effects of genetics and epigenetics on cancer epidemiology;

2. Exploring epigenetic factors that are prone to aging;

3. Exploring the epigenetic risk factors of CVDs.
